December 25, 2000, the first Christian TV channel in the CIS, the cable channel CNL (New Life Channel™) in Almaty, Kazakhstan – the first Christian TV channel in the former Soviet Union. In Almaty CNL reaches 400 thousand viewers and broadcasts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We were encouraged by the wide range of responses to the broadcast and could see that there was a great thirst for the word of God. Thus we identified the need for Christian programming in the Russian language.
God gave us the desire to expand the ministry and to begin broadcasting through satellite into additional countries.
Since July 15, 2002 we have been broadcasting on the Hot Bird™ Satellite System, reaching
44 millions of homes in
74 countries with the powerful message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now we are seeing the impact of this unique broadcast in the Middle East, Africa and Europe. Lives are being changed in unreached parts of the globe!
With the Russian media industry expanding at a considerable rate, the need for Russian programming is growing. CNL Cable is meeting that need with
368
cable networks on board and many other contracts pending. CNLTV™ is the largest Christian network in the former Soviet Union. |
